A Hidden Gem of Central India's Wilderness

Satpura National Park, located in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, India, is a remarkable wildlife sanctuary that spans an area of approximately 524 square kilometers.

Established in 1981, Satpura is part of the larger Satpura Tiger Reserve, which also includes the Bori and Pachmarhi Sanctuaries.

Satpura’s history is intertwined with India’s colonial past and conservation efforts. The area was first brought to attention by Captain James Forsyth of the Bengal Lancers in 1862 during his search for the Indian freedom fighter Tantya Tope.
