A Thriving Tiger Haven in Central India
Pench National Park, also known as Pench Tiger Reserve, is a captivating wildlife sanctuary located in the central Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1965 and later declared a national park in 1975, it covers an impressive area of 758 square kilometers.
The park derives its name from the Pench River, which flows through its heart, creating a diverse ecosystem that supports a rich array of flora and fauna
The park’s history is deeply rooted in Indian culture and literature. It is widely believed that the fictional Seonee hills in Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” were inspired by the Pench landscape, adding a layer of literary intrigue to its natural beauty.
The region is also mentioned in the Ain-i-Akbari, a 16th-century document chronicling the administration of the Mughal Emperor Akbar, highlighting its longstanding importance
