A Haven for Tigers and Biodiversity
Panna National Park, located in the Panna and Chhatarpur districts of Madhya Pradesh, India, is a remarkable wildlife sanctuary that spans an area of 542.67 square kilometers (209.53 square miles).
Established in 1981 and declared as the 22nd Tiger Reserve of India in 1994, Panna has become a symbol of successful wildlife conservation, particularly known for its tiger reintroduction program
Panna gained prominence when Raja Chhatrasal, a Bundela Rajput leader, made it his capital in the late 17th century after successfully revolting against the Mughal Empire.
The park’s flora is characterized by dry deciduous forests, predominantly composed of thorny woodlands and tall grasses, with key plant species including Tectona grandis (Teak), Diospyros melanoxylon (Tendu), Madhuca indica (Mahua), and Boswelia serrata (Salai), all adapted to the region’s hot and dry climate
