Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR) is a vital conservation area located in the northeastern part of Maharashtra, India, spanning the Gondia and Bhandara districts. Officially notified as the 46th Tiger Reserve of India on December 12, 2013, it covers an impressive area of approximately 653.67 square kilometers.

The name “Nawegaon” translates to “new village” in Marathi, reflecting the historical settlement patterns of the Gond tribals.

34 species, including Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, Gaur, Sambar, and Chital, and 166 species, with notable ones like the Red-collared Dove, Spotted Dove, and Black-Winged Kite are examples of the rich mammalian and avian diversity found in Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve, respectively
